Flagstone Patio with Retaining Wall Design and Installation in Arlington, VA
Our North Arlington, Virginia clients needed a complete landscape architectural design and installation for their home which would provide function, curb appeal and connect and expand their usable backyard space. Our project began with the area to the side of the driveway which needed to be excavated to install wall steps and landings which would connect the front drive to the back patio. The design from the front walk and steps to the back yard outdoor living area is expressed in the excellent use of vertical spaces.
O’Grady’s Landscape’s highly skilled masonry division completed this Pennsylvania flagstone walkway and steps project with no detail spared. The craftsmanship seen here is only achieved with years of experience in stone selection along with how to craft the pieces to fit seamlessly and beautifully. The steps lead from the side drive up to a landing which connects to the backyard’s redesigned and installed patio. The wall is faced with gray building stone to match the existing stonework on the other side of the driveway.
The upper walkway leads to the backyard welcoming guests to a new patio and wall system.

The existing stepping stones and river stones were repurposed. A 750 sq. ft. patio was installed made with Pennsylvania flagstone. Our clients chose a Techo-Bloc interlocking Brandon Wall masonry system wall separating the patio from the back hillside in Champlain gray. O’Grady’s Landscape is one of a few certified Techo-Bloc Pro’s in the DMV area. We are proud to hold this professional certification.
