The design process for this Arlington, VA project began with a relative blank slate. Our clients goal was to create a space that was functional, beautiful and livable. Essentially, our client wanted another room to enjoy with their family and friends. Together we decided this would include: a landing and steps leading to a large outdoor stone patio. To make the project livable and functional, we designed and installed a centerpiece fireplace with a chimney along with an outdoor kitchen set in stone. Surrounding the perimeter of the patio, we added retaining walls to manage ground control and provide additional natural seating. We then added colorful plantings to bring year-round texture and softness to the project.
