Types of Stone Walls

Your stone wall can be integrated into a patio or fire pit or serve as fencing around certain portions or all of your landscape design. Your flower bed is another area where you may want to use a wall as fencing. The most common types of stone walls we install for our clients in Northern Virginia include:

  • Retaining walls. Used primarily to improve drainage in landscapes, a retaining wall can also be an aesthetic addition to your home—particularly when rock beds or native boulders are used.
  • Seating walls. This type of wall provides extra areas to sit, which is particularly appealing if you like to host guests outside. It is especially popular as part of patio designs and fire pits and can be built with a range of materials that include paver stone, Bluestone, cultured stone, and flagstone. Columns can also be integrated into your seating wall design for added charm and appeal.
